The sound quality gets a little funky at times on this youtube video. Truly a great album though.

Yeah it’s not the *best* rip of them all, but I don’t think it takes away from the album that much. A workmate of mine was lucky enough to see them live at Merge Week in Carrboro, NC in 2014. I am still jealous about that.

Are you familiar with Julian Koster’s band before he was in NMH? Originally called Miss America, but most commonly known as Chocolate USA?

Off this album, I’ve always loved Holland,1945 and In The Aeroplane Over The Sea.

Was it at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro? That’s a pretty great place to see a show.

Oh ok, I don’t blame you, Greenville isn’t the nicest place on earth. I’m just south of Raleigh.

Awesome! I’m from Tampa. It was really nice to see Julian “make it” as a musician. Chocolate USA was getting ready to move from Tampa not long after I started college and was playing shows with my band. Many good times were had with the C.USA crew and associated bands and people back then. I know I played several shows with with C.USA back then. One show was an Elephant 6 package tour of Chocolate, Apples In Stereo, and Olivia Tremor Control. This was in maybe 1995? Jeff Mangum was in OTC then.
Some of the folks from the first Miss America album line-up splintered off and formed a band called Home, who are still active today. You should check them out.
